Kikuyu and LM (Berea) grass are popular lawn choices in South Africa, with Kikuyu being a fast growing, sun loving and hard wearing option; while LM grass is known for its soft texture, tolerance of shade and slower growth rate.
Kikuyu Grass:
- Growth Habit: Fast-growing, spreads quickly via runners (stolons) and rhizomes.

- Traffic: Can withstand heavy foot traffic.
- Texture: Coarser texture compared to LM grass.
- Appearance: Dark green color.

- Other Names: Highveld grass
